Hills Allergy and Specialists Clinic offers healthcare services for both paediatric and adult patients. Our team consists of specialists and allied health professionals who works collectively to provide the best care for you and/or your child.

We aim to provide a complete care for your health concerns in our clinic by a team of experienced and trusted specialists. Over 4 million Australians are living with allergic conditions and this includes allergic rhinitis, food allergies, eczema, and asthma. In children the allergic conditions affect quality of life, quality of sleep, and it can compromise their learning, growth, and behaviour. In adults these conditions affect the quality of life and reduced productivity in education and performance at work.

We, at Hills Allergy and Specialists Clinic at Norwest, hope to offer a comprehensive medical care to your family. We aim to provide a complete care to babies, children, and adults and this includes consultation with an Allergist and Immunologist (paediatric/adult specialist), skin prick tests (SPT), management of allergic diseases, supervised food challenges, immunotherapy to dust mites, pollen, cat/dog, honey bee/wasp, use of biologic agents in severe eczema and other conditions.

Patient Guide for Allergy Assessment

STEP 1

Booking and Preparation

 1. Booking & Preparation

  • Call and book the appointment

  • Bring a valid referral letter

  • Valid Medicare card to claim the rebate

  • NO antihistamines 3 days prior to appointment




STEP 2

Day of Consultation

 2. Day of Consultation

  • Arrive 15 minutes prior for parking and paperwork

  • Sometimes a delay of  20-30 mins may occur

  • Appointments can
    take up to 1-1.5 hours

  • Bring previous skin prick
    tests if available

  • Assessment and
    management plan
    provided

STEP 3

Skin Prick Test

 3. Skin Prick Tests

  • Performed on the day of consultation

  • NO antihistamines 3 days prior to appointment

  • It takes 20-30 minutes for these tests

  • Results of skin prick tests provided on the day




STEP 4

Food Challenge

 4. Food Challenge

  • Low risk challenges will be arranged in our clinic

  • Appointment for challenge arranged on the day of the consultation

  • High risk challenges – referral made to the hospital

  • Refer to Food Challenge section for more information

STEP 5

Follow Up

5. Follow up

Children with food allergies need a regular review (usually in 6 to 12 months) for reassessment and repeat skin prick tests as this helps to determine if a food challenge is required.

You will be advised about your next follow up on the consultation day.
